Biography:	Peter van de Witte got his PhD in chemical engineering at the University of Twente in the Netherlands in 1994. Afterwards he joined Philips Research and was working in the field of viewing angle improvement and colour filters. Since 2000, he has been technology manager for passive matrix colour at Philips Mobile Display Systems.
Presentation:	Developments in transflective, passive-matrix colour LCDs for mobile phones
Abstract:	New developments in transflective, passive-matrix colour LCD displays for mobile phone applications will be discussed. The developments in front-of-screen parameters like reflective/transmissive brightness and colour purity, as well as recent reductions in power consumption and dimensions will be explained.
